The 3 Most Popular Ways to Make Wine at Home

Welcome to the world of home wine making - we know that you're going to love it as much as we do! There are three main ways to make your own homemade wine:

Wine Kits: The Easiest Way

Wine kits make home winemaking simple, affordable, and fun! Each kit comes with pre-measured ingredients, including concentrated grape juice and yeast, plus easy-to-follow instructions.
In just 4-8 weeks, you’ll have delicious, high-quality wine that rivals your favorite store-bought brands—all with minimal equipment and effort. Whether you’re making it solo or sharing the experience with friends, wine kits are a guaranteed way to create something special and memorable.

Grape Juice - Fruit Juice - Honey

Fresh grape juices are available twice a year: spring juices are pressed in Ohio from Chilean grapes, and fall juices come from California and Italian grapes. We proudly partner with Luva Bella Juice Company to bring these to our area.

Making wine from juice is similar to using a kit but requires closer monitoring. You can also make mead or fruit-based country wines using bottled juice, concentrated bases, or frozen juices. For a convenient start, pair your own apple juice with our Cider Ingredient Kit or try our Mead Ingredient Kit with local honey, both of which include everything you need to craft delicious beverages. Be sure any juices you buy do not contain potassium sorbate, as it will prevent fermentation.

Fresh Fruit

Making wine from fresh fruit is the most involved method to get started. It requires a significant investment in equipment and sourcing large amounts of fruit—around 3-7 pounds per gallon of wine. While this method allows for more creativity, it also increases the chance of mistakes, which can be discouraging for beginners. At Crafted Bottler, our mission is to help you succeed as a winemaker. We provide all the essential ingredients for fresh fruit wines and offer a variety of straining bags for fruits that don’t require heavy pressing. However, we currently do not carry the crushing and pressing equipment needed to process grapes, apples, pears, or other fruits that are best made into juice before turning them into wine.
